CA Recidivism Rates After Parole Drop
According to the California State Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), less than 40 percent of parolees in the state return to prison for subsequent criminal offenses within one year, a phenomenon known as recidivism. Officials note that the rate of recidivism for California paroles has been in steady decline since its peak in 1988.

In 2002 alone, 179,663 people in California were arrested for a DUI. In 2003, 39 percent of the 4,215 vehicle fatalities in California were alcohol related. Though most people associate DUIs with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, DUIs can be given for operating vehicles under the influence of marijuana and narcotics as well.
