Lack of funding may result in higher DUI cases
There is a lack of funding in Alabama that may result in offenders being eligible for early release consideration from incarceration. The possible group to be affected includes felony Alabama DUI offenders, which means a fourth conviction for driving under the influence. The releases of felony DUI offenders have increased DUI fatalities in the last year, increasing from 374 in 2001 to 431 in 2002 and are expected to increase even more as offenders continue being released.
