Assault Charges Puts Probation In Jeopardy
A young man on probation turned himself into authorities after a warrant was issued for the arrest of him and his pregnant girlfriend.
Aaron Hardin, who went to jail in 1999 for the shooting and killing of his brother over an argument about a video game, may have put his probation deal in jeopardy for this most recent assault case.
According to the warrant, Hardin and his girlfriend, Tausha Brown, followed the alleged victim into her sister’s apartment, and held her down by her arms, while Brown punched her in the eyes. The alleged victim later required surgery. The fight was apparently over money.
While the fight was between the two girls, Brown and the alleged victim, it may be a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time for Hardin, who could be found guilty of a misdemeanor assault and criminal trespass. This is enough to land Hardin back in prison.
Originally, Hardin was sentenced to 22-years for shooting and killing his 13-year-old brother. He was given shock probation in 2006. He violated his probation twice for smoking marijuana and being involved in a hit and run. Still, though, those who have been monitoring his probation are not ready to give up on him.
Recently, it has been observed that Hardin has not missed a day of work, he abides by his curfew, he attends his AA meetings and he pays rent on time at the halfway house he resides in.
Hardin has also been doing volunteer work and community service work.
Charged with fourth degree assault and criminal trespass, many hope that the judge will see how Hardin is trying. If the judge does not see the positive steps Hardin is taking, he may serve the remainder of his original sentence which is now 16 years.
