A woman living in Canton, OH, may be owed more than an apology from the city after she was accused of a crime she didn’t commit.
After spending a lot of time, money and energy to prove that she was innocent, the city reportedly dropped the charges.
Accused of Battery Against Officers
Anna Hall Colvin was reportedly accused of hitting three parole officers as they left the Stark County Courthouse after a hit-and-run case dismissed.
Eyewitnesses gave police the license plate of the woman who drove away from the incident and it happened to match Colvin’s.
However, Colvin argued that she was 700 miles away from the Courthouse visiting her husband, who is a Marine, at the time.
Witnesses Prove to be False
It wasn’t until a motor vehicles bureau worker did some independent checking that Colvin’s pleads of innocence were actually heard and taken seriously.
Colvin, who was pregnant at the time, and married to a veteran of Iraq, reportedly spent $7,000 to defend herself.
