Civil Suit Against Denver Police

According to reports, a civil rights lawsuit was recently filed against the Denver police department.

The suit, which was filed by five different plaintiffs, claims the police repeatedly made false arrests.

Victims of False Arrest

The five named in the American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit that was filed earlier this week, represent a “rainbow coalition of victims” according to reports.

One plaintiff is a black student, one is a mother, another is a Latino construction worker, the fourth plaintiff is a white high school teacher and the last, a disabled garbage man.

Police Errors Prompt Suit

All five plaintiffs claim that when they were arrested the police failed to check their fingerprints, confirm their personal details, or check their databases for other suspects.

“In every one of these cases, police had to ignore facts that they were arresting the wrong person,” says Mark Silverstein, the ACLU legal director.

Silverstein claims the city of Denver knowingly tolerated the issues with its faulty procedure.
