Dallas Leads Country in Wrongful Convictions
Dallas County leads the nation for the most wrongful convictions, with 15 inmates freed since 2001. The county’s 15th prisoner was released this week after DNA evidence proved his innocence.

Charles Chatman, 47, served almost 27 years for sexual assault when a judge recommended that his conviction be overturned. He had been sentenced to 99 years in prison.
DNA Testing Helps Free Inmates in Texas
According to Natalie Roetzel of the Innocence Project of Texas, more prisoners are freed by DNA testing in Texas than any other state in the country. Over a six year period, the state has freed at least 30 wrongfully convicted inmates.
