Grandma Files Suit for False Prostitution Arrest

A grandmother living in Brooklyn is filing a suit against the New York Police Department for her alleged false arrest.

The plaintiff claims she was arrested for prostitution and seeing as she’s never been in legal trouble was shocked when police handcuffed her and took her to jail.

Woman Goes to Hospital and Faces Police

Monica Gonzalez was reportedly on her way to the hospital to be treated for asthma when officers from the NYPD stopped her.

According to court papers, they immediately arrested her for prostitution.

“They told me put my hands up on the Jeep. I was scared and emotional, and now I’m crying,” explained Gonzalez of the arrest. “This is wrong. What you’re doing is wrong.”

Police Take Woman to Hospital

When Gonzalez’s medical condition was realized, the police supposedly called an ambulance and she was admitted to Lutheran Hospital.

Gonzalez says that although the police got her medical attention, she was taken to the hospital while still being forced to wear handcuffs, which was humiliating.

“All my children were born there. I’m familiar with everyone, a lot of people there, and I was just humiliated. All those hours there in shackles…” explained Gonzalez.

Later, charges against the woman were dropped and Gonzalez is now seeking compensation for her emotional distress.
