Wrongful Arrest Suit Settled for $100,000

City Council members in Boca Raton, Florida recently settled a wrongful arrest suit for $100,000, siding with the victim.

The man filed the suit claiming he lost his job, dignity and the respect of the community after he was wrongfully arrested in public for a crime he didn’t commit.

Plaintiff Arrest for Armed Robbery

Richard Sakharoff was reportedly at University Commons, a shopping plaza near his home, when police suddenly approached him and accused him of robbery.

A police dog supposedly led the officers to Sakharoff from the scene of a robbery that happened at a restaurant nearby.

Sakharoff was arrested and accused of holding waitress Stephanie Lynn at gunpoint and robbing her.

Innocent Man Spends Time in Jail

Sakharoff reportedly spent three days in jail for the crime.

“I was sitting with chains on my ankles before a judge and they said I was wanted for robbing a girl with a firearm,” explained Sakharoff.

Police Don’t Investigate Adequately

It was later found that Sakharoff was innocent of the crime and witnesses claim the police failed to perform a basic investigation before arresting him.

As a result, Sakharoff was fired from his job and suffered both emotionally and financially.
