New Ohio DUI law would include illegal drugs

The Ohio Senate passed a new bill that sets blood limits for a variety of illegal drugs, including cocaine, heroine, marijuana and methamphetamines while allowing an exception for proper use of prescribed medicine.

After passing the Senate in a 30-1 vote, the measure will head to the House. Under the bill, police and courts will have standard rules under which to charge and convict someone of a DUI of illegal drugs. As Ohio DUI laws currently stand, the law defines evidence only for measuring alcohol in a driver's blood or breath.
