Former Police Face Robbery Charges

Local law enforcement officers are pleading not guilty in the alleged robberies that took place in Los Angeles.

19 members of the robbery ring who have been arrested are saying that they were led by former Los Angeles police officer Ruben Palomares.

Palomares supplied his associates with police uniforms, badges and radios to carry out the robberies.

According to prosecutors, Palomares and his associates targeted locations were suspected drug dealers lived. They would then gain access by claiming that they were conducting a legitimate drug bust.  Once access was gained, they robbed the occupants of valuables.

Three of the men who pleaded guilty were former Los Angeles police officers who were fired.

A tentative trial date is set for these men on May 2.

All three men face multiple counts of conspiracy to possess narcotics with the intent to distribute, deprivation of rights under color of law and using a firearm during a drug trafficking crime and a crime of violence.

Police are still looking for three others who are believed to be apart of Palomares’ robbery ring.
