Connecticut Police Officer Charged With Drunk Driving
A Connecticut police officer has been charged with drunk driving. The officer later lied to police when asked about who was driving the vehicle.
On the evening of his arrest, Sgt. Keith Benway crashed his truck and then lied to police about who was behind the wheel. Police officers who arrested him say that Benway claimed another man was driving his truck and overturned it in the woods nearby.
Investigators say that Benway was in fact the driver of the truck at the time of the crash. Sgt. Benway had been with the police department for more than 20 years. He has also received law enforcement awards in 2003 and 2004 from Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
