Woman Charged With Riding Horse Drunk

A Georgia woman who allegedly guided a horse she was riding onto a freeway causing a collision with an oncoming car, has been charged with riding a horse under the influence of alcohol.

Twenty-two-year-old Heather Darnell was airlifted out of the scene of the accident and remains in the intensive care unit of a nearby hospital. Three other people involved in the accident including a nine-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were also treated and released at another hospital.

According to officials, the driver of the car didn’t see the horse on the freeway until it was too late and was unable to avoid it. The horse survived the collision.

“If it’s on the public right-of-way, you’re under the same jurisdiction as if you’re in a car,” sad state trooper Anthony Coleman.
